Dear Pastor!
Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ!
My name is Askold Kvyatkovsky, and I am the founder of the charity fund "BF Yedyna Komanda" (One Team), which serves the children of Mariupol — children who have survived the hell of war and need not only food and shelter, but also deep healing of the soul.
MY STORY
For 20 years, I ran an event company in Mariupol. Life was a bright celebration — until February 24, 2022.
When the war began, I saw hell on earth. On March 11, two bombs fell on our courtyard. When I opened the door to my apartment, I saw my neighbors dead, the same neighbors with whom I had been warming tea on the stove just a minute and a half earlier. It turned my whole understanding of life upside down.
A friend let me into a bomb shelter—the Komsomolets cinema. There I saw 300 people, 150 of whom were children—gray, dirty, standing in line for food.
On March 14, we left the city. That night, I couldn't sleep. The image of the children haunted me. And I realized: we had to go back.
My partner and I made seven trips to occupied Mariupol. We evacuated 1,500 people. Under fire, through minefields, through checkpoints. Every evacuation is a risk to life. But there were children there.
When we were forbidden to travel further, I realized that evacuation was only the first step. These children need healing.
WHAT WE ARE DOING NOW
We have created a comprehensive rehabilitation program for children in Mariupol:
– Children's rehabilitation camps — professional psychologists, art therapy, play therapy, trauma-informed care
– Physical rehabilitation — camps in the Carpathians and European countries, sports, clean air, nutritious food
– Spiritual support — love, care, the opportunity to hear the Gospel through acts of mercy
– Weekly meetings at refugee centers throughout Ukraine
During the period of employment:
– 650+ children have attended our camps
– 15 camps successfully held
– 89% of parents report significant improvement in their child's condition
– 50+ children met Jesus and found faith
WHY MARIUPOL?
I am from Mariupol myself. My childhood was also difficult. And I know for sure: if you don't love children, they will repay that lack of love a hundredfold.
The children of Mariupol have been through hell. Their trauma runs deep. They need specialized help. And we have created it.
This is not just social assistance. It is a service to souls that changes destinies for generations to come.
HOW YOUR CHURCH CAN GET INVOLVED
I appeal to you as a brother in Christ.
I invite your church to become a partner in our ministry. There are several ways to do this:
One special offering at your church can send a group of children to camp for a week. $10,000-$20,000 = 30-40 children receive healing.
Your church becomes a regular partner ($500-$2,000/month). You receive quarterly reports for your congregation, video updates, and a personalized certificate.
Your church "adopts" one camp session in its entirety—and sees the concrete results of its generosity.
A team from your church is going to volunteer at a camp—serving children personally.
WHAT YOU GET
– Church Partnership Kit — presentation for congregation, video testimonials, flyers, donation envelopes, prayer guide
– Quarterly reports — finances, stories, photos that can be shown to the church
– Video updates for Sunday services
– Personalized certificate for the church
– Direct contact with me personally
– Opportunity to visit the camp (for churches from Ukraine/Europe)
TRANSPARENCY
I know that trust is the foundation of partnership. That is why we:
– We publish financial reports
– We shoot videos from each camp
– We provide full access to information about our work
– Sharing real stories of transformation
85% of funds go directly to programs (camps, psychologists, food). 10% goes to operating expenses. 5% goes to fundraising.
SPIRITUAL FRUIT
This is a Christian foundation. We do not hide our faith—it is the foundation of everything we do. But we do not manipulate vulnerable children.
We show Christ's love through our actions. And children are drawn to Him on their own.
Over 50 children accepted Christ at our camps. Not because we forced them, but because they felt His love through our hands.
One girl came up and said, "Dad, can I give you a hug?" (they started calling me "dad"). And at that moment, all the other girls ran up: "Us too, us too, dad!"
I smiled. But inside, I was crying. Because I understood: these were children whom no one had ever told that they were loved.
MY REQUEST TO YOU
Dear pastor, I am not asking you to make a decision right now. I am asking you for three things:
WE WILL BE HERE FOR A LONG TIME
The war will end someday. But the trauma will remain for generations.
Children who are now 8 years old will carry this pain with them at 18, 28, and 38 — if we don't help them now.
We are here for the long haul. We are building a system that will operate for decades. By 2031, we will have our own year-round rehabilitation center for 200 children.
I will not leave until every child in Mariupol receives help.
INVITATION
Two girls from the bomb shelter said to me, "Since you're here, everything will be fine for us too."
They trusted me. And I came back.
Now hundreds of children in Mariupol are waiting for the same trust. The same love.
Will your church join this ministry?
